1. Ice Hockey and Lacrosse. The action or practice of obstructing an opponent by holding one’s stick horizontally in both hands and thrusting it forcefully at the other player's body.While some checking or blocking of an opponent with one's body is permitted in both games, using the stick to check another player in this manner is considered a personal foul and subject to a penalty in ice hockey and women's lacrosse. Cross checking is permitted in box lacrosse under certain conditions.
