Origin: Apparently either (i) a borrowing from French, combined with an English element. Or (ii) a borrowing from French. Etymons: French critiquer , -able suffix; French critiquable.
Etymology: Apparently either (i) < French critiquer (1737) + -able suffix, or (ii) < French critiquable (1737; < critiquer critic v. + -able -able suffix). Compare earlier (rare) critic v., and also earlier criticizable adj.Compare Italian criticabile (1865).
