Etymology: Probably an extended form of cricket n.1, probably with allusion to a sexual extended meaning of wicket n. 2 (see wiket n. 2(a) in Middle English Dictionary).The association of cricket n.3 and wicket n. is coincidental, since wicket n. is not recorded in connection with the game of cricket until somewhat later (see wicket n. 3).
Obsolete. rare.
In relation to sexual intercourse: with a jigging or jogging motion. Cf. jig-a-jig phr., jiggy-joggy adv.Only recorded in Florio. Torriano's version (see quot. 1659) is confused.
