Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymons: French couscoussier, couscoussière.
Etymology: Partly < French couscoussier (1908 or earlier; < couscous couscous n. + -ier -ier suffix), and partly < French couscoussière (1921 or earlier; < couscous couscous n. + -ière , feminine form corresponding to -ier -ier suffix).
A steamer used to cook couscous, consisting of two interlocking pots, the upper one holding the couscous and having a lid and perforated bottom, allowing the steam from the water heated in the lower pot to pass through.
