criminyint.

Brit. /ˈkrɪmᵻni/, U.S. /ˈkrɪmᵻni/
Forms: 1600s crimine, 1800s crimini, 1800s– criminy, 1900s– crimony (Australian); English regional 1800s– criamany (Hampshire), 1800s– crimany, 1800s– crimmany (Berkshire), 1800s– crimminy (Devon); U.S. regional 1900s– crimeny, 1900s– criminy; also Irish English 1600s–1700s crimine, 1700s–1800s crimini, 1800s criminy.
Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Perhaps a borrowing from Italian. Etymons: Christ n.; Italian crimine.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Perhaps a euphemistic alteration of Christ n. (compare later crikey int.), or perhaps < Italian crimine crime (see crime n.), although use as an interjection is apparently not recorded in Italian. Perhaps compare Gemini n. 4.
Now chiefly U.S.
Expressing surprise. Also by criminy! Cf. crikey int.; Gemini n. 4.
