单词 craftless
释义

craftlessadj.

Brit. /ˈkrɑːftləs/, /ˈkraftləs/, U.S. /ˈkræf(t)ləs/
Forms: see craft n. and -less suffix.
Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: craft n., -less suffix.
Etymology: < craft n. + -less suffix.Compare (in different sense) Middle Dutch crachteloos (Dutch krachteloos ), Middle Low German kraftlōs , Old High German kreftilōs , kraftelōs (Middle High German kreftelōs , kraftlōs , German kraftlos ), all in the sense ‘lacking force, strength or power’ (compare craft n. 1). In Old English and Middle English often translating classical Latin iners inert adj. (compare quot. a1425 at sense 1a), either in its less frequent sense ‘lacking skill’ (i.e. when it is actually equivalent to sense 1a) or as an element-by-element gloss where the context of the lemma suggests that the sense is actually ‘inactive, slothful’.
1.
