Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French aliené.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman aliené alienated tenant (15th cent.), use as noun of past participle of aliener alien v.; compare -ee suffix1. Compare alienor n. Compare earlier alien v. 3 and alienation n. 3.
Law.
A person to whom the ownership of property is transferred; a grantee. Cf. alien v. 3, alienor n.
