Chemistry.

A radioactive transuranic chemical element, atomic number 112, produced artificially. Symbol Cn.The element was first produced in 1996, and was provisionally known as element 112; IUPAC, the international body that approves new element names, asked the discoverers to suggest a name, and they proposed copernicium and the symbol Cp. IUPAC approved the name in 2010, but with the symbol Cn, since Cp had been used for lutetium when it was known as cassiopeium.
