Etymology: < French agrément (in plural) ornamental accessories (1502–3 in Middle French), quality of that which is agreeable (1636), grace note, musical ornamentation (1706, usually in plural in this sense), specific uses of agrément agreement n.In sense Compounds 1 apparently after French système d'agrément, literally ‘system of approval’ (1927 with reference to international laws governing aviation, or earlier).
