An apparatus for measuring the amount of albumin or other soluble protein in a liquid (esp. urine), either (originally) by measurement of the polarization of transmitted light, or (later) by reaction to form a precipitate in a graduated glass tube. Cf. albuminimeter n.The graduated tube used for precipitation is known more fully as Esbach's albuminometer. ΚΠ 1851 Dublin Q. Jrnl Med.
