Origin: A borrowing from Italian. Etymon: Italian cornetto.
Etymology: < Italian cornetto kind of wind instrument (a1525), kind of pastry (mid 20th cent.), specific uses of cornetto small horn (see cornet n.1). Compare earlier cornet n.1With sense 1b compare earlier cornetto muto n., cornetto basso n., and cornetto curvo n. The plural cornetti reflects the Italian plural form.
