Mineralogy.

A lithium-containing mineral of the chlorite group, typically white to yellowish green and occurring in minute scales and in slender six-sided prisms.Chemical formula: Al₅LiSi₃O₁₀(OH)₈. Crystal system: monoclinic.

Sci. & Arts 41 248 The physical and the pyrognostic characters alone are enough to prove the mineral to be a new species, and as such I take pleasure in giving it the name Cookeite, after Professor Josiah P. Cooke, Jr., who I believe was the first to discover its remarkable pyrognostic characters.
