(also Albert's dollar) a large silver coin originally issued for the Spanish Netherlands in 1612 under the joint rule of Archduke Albert VII and his wife, and widely used in international trade and as a unit of account in Russia and the Baltic region during the 18th and 19th centuries; (sometimes also) any of a number of similar silver coins issued by other northern European princes during this period.
