单词 | conservation of force |
释义 | > as lemmasconservation of force The term originally referred to energy (so conservation of energy, also conservation of force) and the concept was soon extended to mass (mass n.2 5b), until mass was recognized as a form of energy. Subsequently other quantities were recognized as being conserved, either absolutely or partially: momentum (both linear and angular), electric charge, parity, etc. [The term originated with Leibniz (see quot. a1716), who used it with reference to ‘vis viva’, the old name for energy (energy n. 6a(a)).a1716 G.
