单词 coof
释义

coofn.

Brit. /kuːf/, /kʊf/, U.S. /kuf/, Scottish English /kuf/
Etymology: Only modern Scots: the form corresponds to an earlier côf , which might be identical with Middle English cofe , now cove n.2, slang for ‘a fellow’; but the words show little agreement in sense. Identity with Scots coffe, also cofe, coif ‘merchant, hawker’, has also been suggested, but here the phonology presents difficulty.
Scottish.
A dull spiritless fellow; one somewhat obtuse in sense and sensibility.
