Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: concert v., -ed suffix1; concert n., -ed suffix2.
Etymology: Partly < concert v. + -ed suffix1, and partly < concert n. + -ed suffix2. Compare earlier consorted adj., and also earlier unconcerted adj.With sense 1 compare Middle French, French concerté (a1449). In sense 2, and perhaps also in sense 3, originally after Italian concertato (1543 in the musical sense, 1553 in sense ‘agreed upon’).
1. Jointly arranged or carried out; agreed upon, prearranged; planned, coordinated. Also (esp. in earlier use): showing coordination, organized, united.Recorded earliest in well-concerted adj.
