Etymology: Partly (in α. forms) < coney n.1 + burrow n.1, and partly (in β. forms) < coney n.1 + berry n.3Also attested in minor place names and field names, frequently from the 17th cent.; an early example is shown by (lands called) the Coney Burrows (field name), Sussex (1547; now Conyboro, Barcombe).
