Origin: A borrowing from German. Etymon: German Algraphie.
Etymology: < German Algraphie (J. Scholz 1896, in Papier Zeitschr. 28 i. 1450; < Al- (in Aluminium aluminium n.) + -graphie -graphy comb. form, after Lithographie lithography n.), with remodelling of the second element after -graphy comb. form.Scholz did not use the term in the original patent of 1893 (Germ. Patent D.R.P. 72470).
A printing process similar to lithography, in which aluminium plates are used instead of stones.
