Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: -nomy comb. form, English -ics.
Etymology: < -nomy comb. form + -ics (see -ic suffix 2). In sense 2 after economics n.Formations are found from the first half of the 19th cent. in sense 1, as pyronomics n. at pyro- comb. form 1, phoronomics n., and from the second half of the 20th cent. in sense 2, as Nixonomics n., Rogernomics n.
