Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Agnoetismus.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin Agnoetismus (1654 or earlier) < Agnoetae (see Agnoetes n.) + -ismus -ism suffix. Compare German Agnoetismus (1758 or earlier).
Church History.
The (heretical) doctrine of the Agnoetes that Christ shared limited knowledge with humans, and was not omniscient; belief in this. Cf. Agnoetes n.
