Etymology: Frequentative and diminutive < clot v.: compare batter , stutter , etc. Compare also clodder n., clutter n., both apparently in their origin variants of this.
Obsolete.
1. intransitive. To run together in clots, to coagulate. Also transitive. To curdle or coagulate. (The two constructions meet in the past participle, which was originally intransitive.)
