A fight between cockerels or roosters, often fitted with metal spurs, held for sport or entertainment, frequently in a specially constructed cockpit (cockpit n. 1) and usually with spectators betting on the outcome; a cockfighting match.In the United Kingdom, United States, and some other countries cockfighting is now prohibited by law; see note at cockfighting n.
