1. A structure or surface having a profile that provides lift at right angles to its passage through the air; esp. a wing, aileron, tailplane, or elevator of an aircraft. Also: a structure designed on similar principles, as the blade of a propeller or the sail of a wind turbine, which converts torque into thrust or vice versa.
