Etymology: < cockney n. + -ize suffix.
1. intransitive. To behave like a Cockney; to use or imitate the Cockney dialect or accent. Obsolete.In quot. 1821 used depreciatively of the language and diction associated with the ‘Cockney school’ of writers; see Cockney school n. at cockney n. and adj. Compounds 2.
