A substance required for the growth of the lactic acid bacterium Leuconostoc cremoris (formerly L. citrovorum), subsequently identified as folinic acid and used to modify or mitigate the effects of methotrexate and other chemotherapeutic agents. Chiefly attributive, esp. in citrovorum factor. Also called leucovorin.
