Etymology: < Christ n. + -o- connective + -gram comb. form. Compare post-classical Latin Christogramma (1836 or earlier), French christogramme (1858 or earlier), German Christogram , Christogramm (1877 or earlier). Compare earlier monogram n.3
A symbol for Christ (☧), consisting of the Greek letters chi (Χ) and rho (Ρ), the first two letters of the name of Christ when written in Greek (Χριστός).
