Angling. One who trolls for pike, etc.: see troll, v. 13.

A person who fishes from the bank of a river or stream. Cf. bank, v.1 9.

One who or that which switches, in any sense: spec. An angler who ‘switches’: see switch, v. 3.

Angling (originally and chiefly U.S.). A casual angler; an angler who fishes with live bait. Sometimes depreciative.

U.S. (western) and Canadian. A person who fishes by means of mooching (see mooching, n. 2).

Angling. An angler who uses a flatline; (also) a flatline. Cf. flatline, n. 2.
