Origin: A borrowing from Hindi. Etymon: Hindi cācā.
Etymology: < Hindi cācā, cacā paternal uncle, also used as a respectful form of address for an older man; showing a reduplicated syllable, perhaps after nursery words such as dādā dada n.2Perhaps compare also Hindi tāyā father's elder brother < Sanskrit tāta father (see dad n.1).
South Asian.
An uncle. Also used as a respectful title or form of address for an older man.
