Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: central adj., -ity suffix.
Etymology: < central adj. + -ity suffix. In sense 2 after French centralité (1838 in A. Dugès Traité de physiologie comparée de l'homme et des animaux I. 347, the passage translated in quot. 1849; 1792 in sense ‘central position’).
