Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin aduncus.
Etymology: < classical Latin aduncus hooked, curved < ad- ad- prefix + uncus hooked, crooked, curved (see uncous adj.). Compare Italian adunco (a1374).
Now rare.
Esp. of the nose or beak: hooked; bent inward.
