Etymology: < medieval Latin car(r)ūcāgium (= Old Northern French caruage , French charruage ), < medieval Latin carrūca plough. (If of Latin age, the type would have been *carrūcāticum ; but the word was of later origin, after French -age , medieval Latin -āgium , had become familiar formatives: see -age suffix.)
