Etymology: < French catadoupe, catadupe, < Latin catadūpa (plural), < Greek κατάδουποι (plural) the cataracts of the Nile, < κατά down + δοῦπος thud, heavy sound of falling, δουπεῖν to sound heavy, fall with a thud. (But see Liddell and Scott.)
Obsolete.
