Etymology: < a- prefix6 + kinetic adj., after akinesis n. Compare ancient Greek ἀκίνητος motionless ( < ἀ- a- prefix6 + κινητός moving: see kineto- comb. form). Compare earlier akinesia n.
1. Chiefly Medicine. Lacking movement, immobile; stationary, static; spec. affected by or relating to akinesia or akinesis.
