Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Aggadah n., -ic suffix.
Etymology: < Aggad- (in Aggadah n.) + -ic suffix. Compare later Haggadic adj.Compare French agadique, noun (1693 or earlier). Compare the following earlier example of post-classical Latin Agadici, plural noun (late 17th cent. or earlier), in an English context:1684 J. Strype tr. J. Lightfoot Horæ Hebraicæ in Wks. II. 423 Lastly, Amongst the Learned, and Doctors of that Nation, there were the Agadici [L. Agadici] who would expound the written Law in a more profound way than ordinary, even to what was cabbalistical.
