Oyster reef restoration projects have faced political opposition in the past.

This may include kelp forest, seagrass, mangroves, tidal flat, mudflat, wetland, salt marsh and oyster reef.

A large number of oysters often join together, thus forming an oyster reef (also referred to as oyster bed, oyster mat).

Storm waves can also scrub corals clean of choking algal overgrowth or uncover buried oyster reefs.
