The inscription had become unreadable by 1922 and a separate marble plaque with this text was installed at the entrance to the reserve.

The building was originally a hospital for blind war veterans (commemorated by a marble plaque inside the building).

Extensive renovations to the property occurred in 1896 (as a simple marble plaque states on the front of the building) and again most probably in the 1950s.

They are surrounded by a raised rectangle of granite featuring six lightposts approximately four feet high, with the student's name engraved on a triangular marble plaque in one corner.

The yellow walls bear marble plaques, testaments from grateful patients.
