The bridge, more than 1,100m long was built between 1963 and 1967, and spans an industrial zone and a river valley.

In 1968, an industrial zone was opened, which in the decades that followed attracted about 80 companies.

However, in 1993 its responsibilities were restricted to the industrial zone only.

Originally the area was an industrial zone lying beside the train tracks.
