One such report, published in 2002, tested the water, in a mixture with petroleum jelly, on patients who had recently undergone laser skin resurfacing.

Skin resurfacing can also be performed with a plasma-based device instead of a laser.

When used proficiently, it has been shown to be significantly more precise in control, while producing less bleeding, bruising and post-operative discomfort compared to other skin resurfacing methods.
