释义 | Port·land (pôrtlənd) 1. A city of southern Maine on an arm of the Gulf of Maine south of Lewiston. Settled c. 1632, it became a commercial center in the 1600s and was state capital from 1820 to 1832. It is the largest city in the state. 2. The largest city of Oregon, in the northwest part of the state on the Willamette River near its junction with the Columbia River.
