(mĕkə-lən, mĕ-) also Mech·lin (mĕklĭn) or Ma·lines (mə-lēnz, mä-lēn) A city of north-central Belgium north-northeast of Brussels. Founded in the early Middle Ages, it enjoyed its greatest prosperity during the 1400s and early 1500s.
