Lu·hans'k 
(l-hänsk) or Lu·gansk (l-gänsk)
(l-hänsk) or Lu·gansk (l-gänsk) A city of eastern Ukraine in the Donets Basin southeast of Kharkiv. A coal-mining center, it was founded c. 1795. From 1935 to 1958 and from 1970 to 1990, it was known as Voroshilovgrad.
