释义 | Lat·er·an Council (lătər-ən) n. Any of a series of Roman Catholic ecclesiastical councils held at the Lateran Palace in Rome between the 7th and the 18th century, five of which (in 1123, 1139, 1179, 1215, and 1512-1517) were ecumenical. The fourth of these ecumenical councils, often considered the most important, produced the doctrine of transubstantiation. |
