Knox·ville

(nŏksvĭl′, -vəl) A city of eastern Tennessee on the Tennessee River northeast of Chattanooga. Settled c. 1785, it twice served as the state capital (1796-1812, 1817-1819) and is the seat of the University of Tennessee (established 1794).
