Kan·ton Island or Can·ton Island

(kăn′tŏn, kăntŏn′, -tən) A coral atoll of the Phoenix Islands of Kiribati in the central Pacific Ocean. An important aviation way station under Anglo-American control from 1939, Kanton became part of independent Kiribati in 1979.
