deactivate, v.|diːˈæktɪveɪt| [f. de- + activate v.] trans. To render inactive or less reactive; spec. to deprive of chemical action, to render less chemically reactive. So deactiˈvation, the process or result of deactivating; deˈactivator, a substance which deactivates.
