‖ Daphnia Zool.|ˈdæfnɪə| [mod.L. (Müller Entomostraca, 1785) f. Daphne.] A genus of minute fresh-water entomostracous crustacea; a water-flea. Hence daphniˈaceous a. ˈdaphniad, a member of the order containing the water-fleas. ˈdaphnioid a., allied in structure to Daphnia; n. a daphniad.
