‖ dacoity|dəˈkɔɪtɪ| Also de-, dacoitee, -ie. [a. Hindī ḍakaitī, abstr. n. f. ḍakait.] The system of robbery practised by the dacoits; gang-robbery; an act of robbery with violence committed by an armed band (now, according to the Indian penal code, of not less than five men).
