acanthocyte, n. Path.|əˈkænθəʊsaɪt| Orig. † acanthrocyte. [f. acantho- + -cyte. The earlier form represents a blend with erythrocyte n.] An abnormal erythrocyte having irregularly spaced, spine-like protoplasmic projections.
