spurrite Min.|ˈspɜːraɪt| [f. the name of Josiah E. Spurr (1870–1950), U.S. geologist + -ite1.] A monoclinic carbonate and silicate of calcium, (Ca2SiO4)2.CaCO3, which is a product of the contact metamorphism of limestone and usu. occurs as pale grey crystalline masses.
