ˈrainproof, rain-proof, a. (and n.) [f. rain n.1 + proof n.] Impervious to rain. Hence as n., a rainproof garment, esp. a raincoat. Also ˈrain-proofed a., (a) rendered impervious to rain; (b) wearing a rainproof; ˈrainproofer, a manufacturer of rain-proof fabrics.
